Ongoing turmoil and environmental disasters have plunged countless individuals across the Middle East into severe food insecurity and deepening poverty.
Since 2014, hunger has steadily increased across the Middle East and neighboring regions, fueled by prolonged conflicts and ongoing humanitarian emergencies. Intensifying climate extremes have further strained access to food and clean water, compounding the crisis.
Global Faith For Action operates in six countries across the region, delivering emergency aid while also helping communities access vital nutrition, healthcare, safe water, and long-term strategies to combat hunger.
Ahmed came into the world already displaced—his family forced to flee their home as the war in Yemen escalated. Now crammed into a single-room shelter with six children, his parents face daily struggles just to survive. When Ahmed was just two, he became severely malnourished.
Thanks to the intervention of Global Faith For Action, his life was saved. His mother, lives with constant worry. Her husband is considering traveling even farther in search of better fishing prospects to support the family.
“It terrifies me to think I’ll be here alone with the children, waiting for any word from him,” his mother shared. “During times of conflict, the roads are blocked and communication is cut. We’re left in silence, drowning in fear that he may not return. These choices—heartbreaking and dangerous—are the ones we’re forced to make just to keep going.”
Across the Middle East, Global Faith For Action partners with communities facing the harsh realities of conflict—displacement, crumbling infrastructure, food and water shortages, and growing mental health challenges.
We focus on preventing and treating malnutrition among children, mothers, and other vulnerable groups, while working alongside local governments, families, and communities to strengthen nutrition and healthcare systems. Through education and behavior change initiatives, we help reduce the risk of hunger before it begins.
Our food security and livelihood efforts equip at-risk communities with the tools to improve their access to nutritious food, income, and local markets.
